He discovered love for Colorado. He later settled in Aspen. More than a few people took the road to Colorado after hearing Denver's popular tunes for the state he was raised in. G. Brown, curator of Colorado Music Hall of Fame stated the following: John Denver is the only artist to represent Colorado. Denver was the first Hall of Fame ever to be inducted. Denver is now the embodiment of Colorado for many people across the globe. When I travel, I always encounter someone on the other part of the globe, someone who is from New Zealand and you say "I'm from Colorado and the very first thing that comes they say is"Oh John Denver! Brown stated. Denver's debut Top 10 hit as a solo artist after a brief time in folk bands was Take Me Home Country Roads co-written with Bill Danoff. Danoff created the track with Johnny Cash in mind but when Denver was introduced to an earlier version immediately, he realized the song could be a hit single.
